Harry Potter Party Digital Files (all in one place)

It's been a long time since I've done a post here, but I recently had someone contact me about some of the Harry Potter birthday party items asking for a comprehensive list of all of my files for sale.  I thought that was a pretty good idea so here it is.  I have linked each item to it's individual post so that you can see what it looks like.

1.  Invitation letter, train ticket, supply list and Hogsmeade permission slip:  $6.00

2.  Gringott's Withdrawal Slip:  $2.00

3.  Ollivander's Label, wand number labels and wand description cards:  $6.00. NOTE:  I DO NOT have the file for the "Your Wand and You" booklet.

4. Standard Lesson Book:  $4.00. I realized I didn't have to many photos of the inside of the Lesson Book so here are a few to give an idea of what is inside.

5.  House attribute cards and House crest buttons:  $4.00

6.  Slug and Juggers potion label:  $2.00

7.  OWL Results and Certificate of Merit:  $4.00

8.  Chocolate Frog Wizard Cards:  $8.00

All files are PDFs and can be purchased either through PayPal at kellyldriver@yahoo.com or Venmo at @kellyldriver.

Once I receive notification of payment I will send the files.

Stranger Things Birthday Party

As Bug-A-Boo's 13th birthday draws near, I am reflecting on the party she had last year and I know that it is the last "themed" birthday party I will ever do for her.  It makes me sad but as she gets older I need to remember that it is the way of things.

For her 12th birthday she wanted to have a Stranger Things party.  The third season of the Netflix, hit show, was all Bug-A-Boo and her friends talked about.  They were obsessed.

The planning for a party (for me at least) always begins with the food.

The girls were going to be here around dinner time and I wanted to do a themed dinner and thought Burger King would be perfect since that is what Hopper gets for him Joyce, Murray and Alexi.  And we had to have Cherry Slurpee, in honor of Alexi.  Since there aren't any 7-Eleven's around I found a recipe for cherry slurpee on the internet.  They were a big hit.

Bug-A-Boo didn't want a cake...she wanted a Waffle Bar.  The main character of Stranger Things is Eleven and she loves Waffles.  Eggo's play a big part in the show.

I thought that was a great idea.  I searched the internet for Waffle Bar topping ideas and came across a great idea on Pinterest.  In order to give the girls ideas of how to top their waffles we came up with 8 different character waffles.  Some of these I borrowed from Pinterest and some we came up with ourselves.  I then made signs that we could display.  They included pictures of POP! Figures, which Bug-A-Boo collects.

-THE JOYCE

A little nuts!  Top with Peanut Butter, bananas and mini M&Ms.

-THE NANCY

Goodie Goodie with a rebellious side!  Top with Strawberries, bananas and chocolate chips.

-THE HOPPER

A little blue and a little rough but with a soft side!  Top with blueberries, chopped nuts and whipped cream

-THE DUSTIN

Bring on the sweets!  Top with chocolate pudding, whipped cream and sprinkles.

-THE ELEVEN

Simple but brilliant!  Top with chocolate chips and syrup.

-THE MAX

A fiery redhead with a sweet side! Top with strawberries, whipped cream, chocolate pudding and sprinkles

-THE BILLY

A dark and brooding bad boy!  Top with chocolate pudding, chocolate chips and chocolate syrup

-THE STEVE

Scoops Ahoy Employee (best mom ever) of the Month!  Top with blueberries, strawberries and mini marshmallows!

So our list of toppings is as follows:

-chopped peanuts

-peanut butter

-bananas

-strawberries

-chocolate chips

-mini marshmallows

-blueberries

-syrup

-sprinkles

-whipped cream

-snack pack chocolate pudding

Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Shop also is a main location for the action in season three, so we knew we had to have an ice cream bar.  Since season three had just premiered a month earlier there were still places doing promotions with the show.  One of those was Baskin Robbins.  They had teamed up with Target to sell pints of Stranger Things themed ice cream.  I scoured the Target website for the ice cream and finally found one that had a few of the flavors.  It was an hour away, but I really wanted to get the ice cream for her.

I also made special Scoops Ahoy bowls for them.

Next up were the decorations.  I created a few little posters to hang up around the kitchen.  The Missing poster of Will and Barb that were used in the show and Will's drawing of Bob.

I also made some character paper dolls using my Circuit to be used as a centerpiece.  This is probably my favorite thing for the party.

Lucas

Eleven

Dustin

Will in the Upside Down

Mike

Max

Last but not least were the favor bags.  I wanted to make sure I had some things from the 80s.  I got mini Rubix Cubes and iconic 80s candy - Pop Rocks, Airheads, Nerds and Stranger Things Pez dispensers.  I also found the coolest iPad stickers.  It was the sheet music to The Never Ending Story song with a drawing of Dustin and Suzie.

Overall, it was a great birthday party and they all had a lot of fun.

While they ate their waffles and ice cream they watched Season 1 Episode 1 of Stranger Things and played Bug-A-Boo's new game.

  • Gather girls to form a semi-circle facing family members.
  • Explain that an Investiture Ceremony is used to welcome a new girl or adult in Girl Scouts and they only go through an investiture once in their lifetime. Girls who are already invested are “rededicated.”
  • Talk to the girls about how tomorrow is Juliette “Daisy” Low’s birthday.  Read “How Girl Scouts Began” (GGGS pg. 10)
  • Say, “You are about to become a Girl Scout Brownie. Together we will explore all the fun and adventure of Girl Scouting.”

  • Have the girls sit on the floor.  Call each girl up.  Kelly gives each girl the Girl Scout membership pin and welcomes them with a Girl Scout handshake. Mandy gives each girl their Lei* and welcome them with a Girl Scout handshake.   Tara gives each girl their bag of badges earned and certificate and welcomes them with a Girl Scout handshake.   *the girls got a Lei because that is what they chose as their Troop Crest.
  • ANNOUCEMENTS:

    • OSU Women’s Basketball game on Sun., Dec. 14, tip off at 2pm.  Tickets are $6.50 per person at the group rate.
    • Remind parents that “Girl Scouts is unlike any other extra-curricular activity that your daughter’s are participating in.  Girl Scouts, at times, is a whole family effort.  The leadership team does as much as we possibly can to help the girls learn the values and skills of the Girl Scout Law as well as help them to earn the badges that reinforce those values and skills.  However, there are those times when a girl cannot attend a meeting or an outing and it is then that we need the help of the families to assist their Girl Scouts at home if she is interested in earning the badge that her Troop is working on.  There will also be times when a project or a badge requires the girls to do some homework.  As parents ourselves the leadership team understands that these girls already get a good deal of homework from school, not to mention sports they are involved in, etc.  We try to keep Girl Scout homework to a minimum but sometimes it is impossible.  Again, this is when we need your help and support.  If your daughter is unable to attend a meeting or outing that will help her complete a Legacy Badge or if she is interested in earning a Skill Badge on her own, please do not hesitate to ask me for help.  I am more than willing to help by offering ideas and suggestions on ways that you can help her achieve her Girl Scouting goals.

Please keep in mind as well that we will not be pressuring the girls to complete steps that they have missed in order to earn their badge.  I remind them every meeting that they have the option to complete them at home and them present what they have done to the Troop in order to finish the step and earn the badge.  For example:  Grace was unable to attend the Miniature Golf event and so she was unable to complete Step #4 of the Fair Play Badge.  We will be completing all 5 steps of this badge as a Troop in December.  At that time all the girls that have finished all 5 steps will get their Fair Play badge.  If Grace is not interested in earning this badge then she does not need to do anything, however if she wants this badge she will need to complete Step #4 and present to the Troop how she did it before she bridges to a Junior, which is at the end of 3rd Grade.  I keep track of every badge and which girls have completed which steps.

Some of you will find small sheets of paper in your daughters award bags that were handed out tonight with information on which badges and steps they have not completed up to this point.  I will send this information to whomever it applies to again in December when we break for the holidays, in January when we return and then in May when we break for the Summer.  Brownies is a two year program so if they want to earn the badges they have missed they will have until the Bridging Ceremony to compete and present.

There has been a lot more going on this year than there was last year and I want to make sure that the way I have been communicating with you all is working for you.  Is everyone good with Facebook being the main form of communication?  Is everyone seeing everything that is being posted?  Is the way I am letting you know about upcoming events on Facebook okay?

Does anyone have any questions for me?

Again, we want to thank you all for your continued help and support of the Leadership Team and the girls.

  • Thank families for attending and let them know that refreshments will be served now.   Have bags for them to take things home if they want.

Serve Donuts for Juliette Low’s birthday.

Clean-up (10 min)
  • ALL girls should participate! Remind girls of kapers and work together to leave the site better than you found it.

  • Talk about the Investiture/Rededication Ceremony next meeting.(NOTE: An investiture is a ceremony to officially welcome a girl or adult into Girl Scouting for the first time. Girls or adults who have been Girl Scouts before will rededicate their commitment to Girl Scouting by renewing the Girl Scout Promise.) Girls who have been Girl Scouts before will be rededicating their commitment to the Girl Scout Promise and Law at the ceremony.
  • Talk about the Skill Building Badge form and the Legacy Badge Make Up Form
  • If anyone has a Skill Building Badge or Legacy Badge form they can present here.
Activity/Exploration (50 min)
  • Talk about national songs.  America the Beautiful, My Country Tis of Thee and God Bless America.  Play the songs for the girls and have them march around the room. (Celebrating Community, Step #2 & #3)
  •  Talk about symbols and how they mean something special.  For example, the American Flag is a symbol that shows we are proud of our country.  Have a coloring sheet of our State’s (Cardinal & Carnation) and Town’s Symbols (Sunflower).  Have the girls get their GGGS books and turn to page 29.  Talk to the girls about Troop Crests.  Have the troop vote on a Troop Crest. (Celebrating Community, Step #1).  There are 16 different Troop Crests and we did not want to give the girls to many choices so each of the members of the Leadership Team chose one crest based on how it represented our girls and Troop.  We chose the following:
    • Shooting Star:  rare, unexpected and beautiful
    • Crane:  strength, grace and honor
    • Lei:  friendship, love and peace

I created this chart but I covered up the pictures of the badges so that the girls would not choose based on the picture but solely on the attributes that each one represents.  The girls voted and unanimously voted for Choice #3:  Friendship, love and peace...the Lei.
  • Make a banner with the Troop Crest and Troop number to be used for our Investiture Ceremony.  (Celebrating Community, Step #5).  I had printed out large pictures of each of the crests to be used on the banner.  The one that they chose was added to the banner.

  • Have a Halloween Field Day.  Play the Star Spangled Banner National Anthem before starting.  Have a relay race.  Split the girls into 2 teams.  Have a Spider Relay Race (basically race walking like a “spider-crab”),  Mummy Wrap (wrap partner up in toilet paper), and Witch’s Stew Game (2 bowls, a straw for each girl, 9 Halloween shapes) (Fair Play, Step #5)

Closing (5 min)
-  Form a Friendship Circle. Announce any final reminders or comments
  • Remind girls that there will be no snack next meeting because the leaders will be providing goodies for Juliette Low’s birthday and our Investiture Ceremony.
  • There will be a Troop Outing on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Credit Union of Ohio in Hilliard for the GSOH Money Manager Badge.  This will help us to complete Money Manager Financial Literacy Badge.  The is a $3.00 fee, which the troop will pay for.
  • Remind girls (and parents) of the upcoming Investiture Ceremony and do the Friendship Squeeze
