Meeting 9: Introduction to Cookie Program Activity and Money Manager

Meeting at a Glance 

Goal: Girls will know more about what money is worth and learn about/prepare for the Girl Scout Cookie Program Activity. 
Toward the Award: Earn the Money Manager badge (if not earned by attending the GSOH event). 
Supplies: 
See Brownie Supply Schedule 

Pre-Meeting (15 min)
-Greet, sign-in, and put on nametags. 
-Start cutting out the Elf paper doll, grocery items, elf stuff, elf money, 

Snack time (Snacks, Step #2)(10 min)

Opening (5 min)
- Flag Ceremony
- Gather and greet each other with the Girl Scout handshake. 

Business (10 min)
-In the Girl Scout Brownie Ring, review rules, assign kapers and talk about preparing to sell cookies. 
-“Today we are going to review and learn more about money and what it is worth, learn how to shop and have fun, and get ready to participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program Activity. 

Activity/Exploration (50 min)
-Ask the girls to pull out the Money Manager packet from the Badges section of the Girl’s Guide. 
-Complete the steps to understand how to manage money wisely using the Paper Elf and accessories and money. (Money Manager, Steps #1-5)
-Talk about what we would like to do this year with our Cookie Money, i.e. a special field trip or COSI overnight on May 1st ($44.00 per person)?



Clean-up (10 min)
-  ALL girls should participate! Remind girls of kapers and work together to leave the site better than you found it 
  • The Out Scout should be rotating the names on the Kaper Chart to see who will bring the snack and beverage for the next meeting. 

Closing (5 min)
-Form a Friendship Circle and discuss how we can budget some money to help others by reaching our Cookie Program Activity goal. 
-Hand out the Money Manager badge and Cookie Program Activity Materials. 
-Talk to the girls about the Christmas Cookie Exchange on December 18th.
-Sing a song and do a friendship squeeze. 
-Collect nametags and sign-out.
